Water Projects Europe Event – Circularity in Industrial Water
During the Water Projects Europe session in Brussels at the end of 2025, five leading EU projects – RESURGENCE, CORNERSTONE, R3VOLUTION, iWAYS and BOOST-IN – presented their latest solutions for circular industrial water use. Around 100 participants discussed how innovative technologies for water reuse, energy and raw material recovery, and digital process optimisation contribute to the resilience and competitiveness of European industry.
The event clearly showed that industrial water is strategic infrastructure. Modern membrane systems, energy and heat recovery concepts, digital twins and new business models already enable high reuse rates and efficient resource utilisation today. However, the biggest challenge lies not so much in the technology as in its broad implementation – including a reliable regulatory framework, economic viability and integration into existing production environments.
The panel discussion also emphasised the importance of cross-sector cooperation and long-term innovation structures to scale proven solutions across Europe.
Conclusion: The foundations for a water-smart society have been laid. The task now is to make the transition from demonstrations to widespread application – and thus make circular industrial water management the new standard in Europe.
