R3VOLUTION publishes new scientific paper and factsheet on tunable nanocellulose membranes
The R3VOLUTION project has released both a peer-reviewed scientific publication and a dedicated factsheet highlighting its latest advances in the development of charged nanocellulose-modified tight ultrafiltration membranes with tunable separation performance. The research has been published in the journal Separation and Purification Technology under the title “Revealing structure-property-performance relationships and tunability in nanocellulose-coated ultrafiltration membranes” and became available online on 12. October 2026.
The publication presents the project’s work on tailoring ultrafiltration membrane properties through nanocellulose-based surface modifications. By introducing charged nanocellulose coatings, the researchers demonstrate how membrane structure and surface characteristics can be adjusted to achieve targeted separation performance, offering greater flexibility for industrial water treatment and resource recovery applications.
To make the results accessible to a wider audience, the project has also released the R3VOLUTION Factsheet D2.3 Development of Nanocellulose Membranes, which is now available through the project’s website. The factsheet summarizes the key objectives, innovations, and outcomes of the nanocellulose membrane development of the project.
These new dissemination materials mark another step forward for R3VOLUTION, which is developing advanced technologies to enable circular industrial water management, including innovative membrane solutions for water reuse, resource recovery, and improved process sustainability.
